those are the correct settings, I have used those settings to send emails through the gmail server many times.
I'm not sure if the 1 and 1 server has blocked port 465 or what.
The earlier tests you had tried, where you using the local testing server or testing remotely? all of your email testing should be done on the remote server, not locally.
It seams to me that the issue is a problem on the 1 and 1 end, Universal Email is trying to make the connection to the SMTP server, but for some reason the SMTP server is not allowing it.
