WTF, Over? Dead in the Water

WTF, Over? Dead in the Water

Set-Up: Mac, OSX, DW CS 5, & the full complement of WebAsssit tools

System has been rock solid for weeks. Just now I came in and fired up Dreamweaver and got this message:

Due to an issue with image re-sampling this product does not work on your macintosh. If you do not own a PC contact sales@webassist.com to arrange a refund.

When I click OK, DW throws a couple of more screens of errors and quits, and sends failure messages to Adobe.

I've deleted the .nmac file, no change.
I've deleted and reinstalled DW, no change

What's going on and how do I fix this?

Sounds like there is an extension installed that is not supported in Dreamweaver CS5.

can you send screen shots showing your extension manager so I can see what is installed and the versions.

The quickest way to get back up and running would be to rename the configuration folder.

Close Dreamweaver, then locate the configuration folder at:
/Users/<Your User Name>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver CS5/en_US

where <Your User Name> is the user name you log into your computer with. and rename it.

can't it's empty.

I've removed, using extension manager, and then deleted all extensions in the folder, uninstalled dw, restarted, re-installed dw, restarted, and still I get an error box saying to contact sales@webassist for a refund.

At the time the EM was empty.

Since I wrote the last I've uninstalled DW and scoured the HD for any left over folders, destroyed them, and reinstalled. I just dl'ed a few of the WA tools and I'm back up and running okay.

gotta lot of catching up to do, today.

BTW: I've got real issued with your download page. I bought the entire WA package and so I see "everything." But there are multiple versions of products, inconsistent naming (is SiteAssist 3 better than SA Pro?), and incompatible products listed.

As long as I memorize the pantheon of WA tools, their heritage, and which conflicts with what, I'm okay....but who's got the time? Can't you segregate out the latest from the older but still supported tools in some way?

Anyway, kill the ticket. I'm back up...and behind.

I will log a feature request to have this investigated for the future.

Site Assist Pro is the replacement for SiteAssist 3.

The DWCS5 compatability chart can be viewed here

glad to hear you have things working again.

understood

thanks, understand.

I think my point is that WA has so many versions, packages, and iterations going for every product that it is not intuitive, or even discoverable without an install-fail cycle, which conflicts with what. An example would be that you can't have Database Search if you're installing DataAssist or that you get Cookies 3 if you install Security Assist.

Anyway, thanks for passing it on.
