We need the old postings.
We need the old postings.
Hi there,
As Joesph Lowery noted in his posts announcing the change over last week, the two systems are incompatible and we can't migrate them. We have, however, picked up a good deal of information and put it in the FAQ section of the product support pages. For example, check out the eCart support page: siteassist/.

There are a couple other similar posts on the new boards already. I have to agree with everyone - although the new forum will be better and great in time, there is still too much valueable data in those old forums.
Please provide a link to the old forums, just for viewing purposes (ie: no more posts or replies allowed).
You say that you moved many important items to the FAQ section of the support pages! Well - first of all your ecart link is wrong - it is pointing to siteassist support, and secondly, when I found the eCart support - it had 4 FAQ's. THAT'S IT! Out of hundreds and hundreds of posts over the past couple years, you expect just 4 FAQ's to answer all of what had been covered :)
I think we still need access to those forums.
Just my 2 cents.
I agree that the old posts are very valuable. Its often the discussion which leads to our own solutions, which may actually be different from the one in the post. Reading about how others trouble shoot problems is needed, it's a learning tool, not just an answer.

I have to add my own voice to wanting to see those old postings. I have used Webassist for many years and there are hundreds of answers in them.
I agree... the old posting where a tremendous help.
Why not simply create an on-line archive of the old forum and remove posting capability?
Now this is the last nail Webassist put in my head. WHERE ARE THE OLD forums? Compatible or not, every even small site leaves a copy of the valuable info there is in old forums.
So many help topics and now... nothing. Where can I find help for ASP now the old forum is gone? Or you just wanted to get rid of us? You told us you will still support ASP by help and we have forums with lots of informations. And there really was. And now, nothing except few posts.
Give us a break about compatibility issues. We are programmers also and know how to handle such problems. If you can not migrate, make read only and get us link...
This is not a plea, this is a request and I think I am speaking for most of us here (ASP and PHP users).
I have migrated from ASP Snitz forum to Phorum5 in PHP (8 years difference) so don't tell me please you can not do it.
You could also make a PDF or database out of the mail topics and bodies on the old forum.
The fact is if you bothered you could do something quite easy.
Like others I cannot believe all those posts have been removed and not available as an archive! That is really strange.
I only found out about this when logging on to check my own posts as to a solution to a problem with menu writer that I had figured out for myself and posted in the thread I started. Now I have forgotten exactly what I did and just want to read my own post!
That is frustrating, is no-one from Webassist replying to these points because the database of old posts has been deleted? If so just say so, otherwise as it has been pointed out it should not be too much effort to put it back up as a read only archive of great value to all your customers.
Thanks
