Strict Date Error message - no timezone specified?

Hello,

I am getting this error message (and many others that are essentially the same) from my server when strict reporting is turned on (a blank screen when it is not):

Strict Standards: getdate() [function.getdate]: It is not safe to rely on the system's timezone settings. Please use the date.timezone setting, the TZ environment variable or the date_default_timezone_set() function. In case you used any of those methods and you are still getting this warning, you most likely misspelled the timezone identifier. We selected 'UTC' for 'GMT/0.0/no DST' instead in /home2/readcons/public_html/webassist/form_validations/wavt_scripts_php.php on line 198

Looks like the timezone is not being set correctly for my hosts strict server settings - is there a resolution for this at all?

Could you provide more details about your form? If you can, upload the code.

It is possible that the white screen you are getting is because of another issue that may have nothing to do with the date. The date in a strict setting could be a completely separate issue but without seeing the code or an example of what is going on, it is tough for me to give any more insight.

Best regards,

Brian

Yes, I have just finished figuring out that it was an issue with the database permissions on my production server (I must say that it would have been nice to have a database error kick with that information.)

Regardless, the default timezone should be set. :)

Andrew, wow... that was a good find. I would have never even guessed anything to do with the database as I have never had that error before. But I am going to make note of it now in case I or someone else ever has something similar.

Happy New Year!

Brian
