Power Store 4.5 installation wizard

Hello
I am watching the tutorial Installing PowerStore 4 step 3 of 8

I am installing initially PS4.5 on my local machine.

Am I correct in thinking that when I type a name into the database field, the wizard will create the database for that name with User and Passwords entered, so that I do not have to create the database prior to the wizard entry?
Many thanks
John

Yes, that is correct, if the database name you enter does not exist, it will be created.

Thanks Jason
When entering Step 3 of 7 I get an error

ERROR: Could not connect to the MySQL database.
Please verify the server, username, and password are correct.

(I have previously created some mysql databases with tables and have a connection for these.)

In set 3 of 7
Server = localhost
Database Username and passwords all entered no spaces or unusual characters

I tried creating the database and then running Step 3 to no avail
MySQL is running in xampp.

Jason kindly helped me to sort this out.

For any future Reference

In Step 3 I was inserting the Admin user name and password whereas I should have inserted the mysql root username and password.

Thanks Jason

Same problem on Mac

I'll show my ignorance here, but is "reply to thread" the same as "append to this thread"?

I am having the same issue as I am trying to install PowerStore on my mac localhost before I upload it to the actual server. I am stuck on step 3 of 7 having tried a number of combinations of entries in the fields.

With MAMP, Apache is running with a green light on MYSQL Server.

server/Host Name: opportunities

Found my error in server field

I found my error. The Server name had to be just "localhost" without the other info I added. I thought I had tried this first, but may have had a different field information typed wrong at that time. I'm all st up and running now. Once I get it all set up, transferring it to the host server may be my next challenge!

Powerstore 4.53 Installation Step 3

I am uploading to live server (not local server). Via godaddy cpanel, I have created a database and user/password for that database.

I used 'localhost' as Server, and believe the rest of the info is accurate (after triple checking). After clicking the "Go to next step", nothing happens (does not go to Step 4; blank screen).

Could you please advise? Is this a common problem?

I'll need to troubleshoot directly, see the private message section.
