Update to 4.1.6 breaks DW CS4

Well, I updated to 4.1.6 and when I attempt to open DWCS4 I get now get an error message telling me that line 25 of WA_Memento.js : document.remindersWP.document.track has no properties and DW fails to startup.

When I looked in the Config folder I could not find the target folder for the file (I think it was called Floaters). I looked for it under C:\docs & settings\myuseraccount\Application Data\Adobe\DWCS4\en_US\Configuration\

So, I disabled 4.1.6 and got a different error message on starting DWCS4. But at least it started and I can now work.

I have not yet attempted to re-enable 4.1.6.

Anyone else seen this?

Is there another config directory somewhere else? Bugger ! I didn't note down the full path and now am cursing myself !

I am using XP Pro.

Thanks.

This is probably the winfilecache corruption issue. I have found that if I rename my floater directory to something else, then open Dreamweaver... then close dreamweaver and rename the directory back to floaters it will clear out floater errors that persist even when deleting the filecache.dat file.

Either way it is probably a phantom error that can be solved by clearing the filecache.dat file and/or playing with getting the floaters reset.

Floaters . . .

Admitting to my lack of knowledge is getting easier.
What is a "floater directory" (location & purpose)?
While using DW CS4 (still on eCart 4.1.5) I've noticed that a "new" WA_eCart directory appears in my site structure. Let's say that:
O:\website\html
contains my index.html plus ABC.php files & WA_eCart directory. The pages display & progress/link in DW, but do not "live" unless the WA_eCart directory is uploaded to:
o:\website level.
Of course, the unintentional comedy level was high as I deleted one directory only to find that either DW or "live" had become broken. Disappearing .GIF files (along with bindings) causing temporary panic, et cetera . . .
Is this a newbie post? Or is it relative to the initial "floater directory" question?
Thanks in advance . . .

Ray
Thanks for the reply.

Luckily, I happened to open up a file that had the Univ. Email SBs on it and I was presented with an error message that said:
Error while loading WA Universal Email.htm
Unable to open script file "E:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver CS4\Configuration\Shared\Controls\Scripts\WAUniversalEmail.js"

On checking this directory there were NO WA*.js files in there at all. So I reloaded WA UE and that solved the Memento problem as well as the WA UE problem.

I then checked the abovementioned directory and found that the WAUniversalEmail.js file was still not there BUT when I checked in the usual Config directory under Documents and Settings I discovered the WAUniversalEmail.jsfile and a few others besides.

I seem to recall back in the days of DW UD4 that there would be from time to time some scrambling of the Configuration data or cache. But for the life of me I cant recall what had to be done to fix it.

In the user configuration folder there is a .dat file that includes the name WinFileCache with a bunch of numbers after it. If you delete that file with DW closed, it will recreate the cache next time it opens often clearing up issues.
