changing search criteria

I've created a simple online form that appears on everypage of my website and set the criteria as an Advanced Text Search to be applied to ItemName and ItemShortDesc. This works fine if you input one word ie, tree into the field. How do I change the query if I want the user to be able to search for 'palm tree' specifically, so that only the palm tree will be returned on the searchresults page. At the moment it shows all entries that contain the word 'palm' or 'tree'.

Go to the DataAssist Search server behavior on the results page.

Then edit the keyword search. By default the implied or character is a space, change it to something like ' OR ', This way the search 'palm tree' would only return an exact match and you would have to type 'palm OR tree' to get results from all entries that contain either word.
