Installing a Free Third-Party Extension Manager

Dreamweaver dropped support for the Adobe Extension manager for Dreamweaver CC. There are several alternative extension managers that are now available that can be used instead.

All of these are free, but the top two are the most popular and are actively supported. The first one doesn't require registration or login, so I'd suggest it for people that don't already have a DMXZone account.

The most popular options are:

Once an extension manager is installed, you can open it and use it to install a webassist extension.

Installing an Extension

Through the Extension Manager, you will install ZXP files. Once you have downloaded your ZXP files from your WebAssist Download Center, follow these instructions for installing these files.

1. Choose your Dreamweaver version from the Product list.
   
2. Select Install.
   
3. Accept the Extension Disclaimer by clicking Accept.

Open a Page in Dreamweaver to Finish

After installing the extension you will need to have an internet connection before you open up Dreamweaver to use the extension for the first time.

1. Open any page in Dreamweaver and a secondary installer should open and run automatically.
   
2. If the secondary installer does not open, try creating a new page in Dreamweaver or restarting Dreamweaver.
   
3. If you still don't see the secondary installer, then you can try re-installing the extension again by starting over at step 2 above.
   
4. If that still doesn't work, then try a different extension manager from step 1 above.
   
5. If nothing works, then post to our support forums and we can contact you directly and do screen sharing to help you get your extension installed.

Restart Dreamweaver

You must close and restart Dreamweaver before you can access any of the menu items that were added by the installer.
