Tutorial created by Ray Borduin, WebAssist

This tutorial shows you how to upgrade your PowerGallery 1 installation to PowerGallery 2.

arrow downWhat you need to start

  1. PowerGallery 1 installed and functioning
  2. PowerGallery 2

arrow downBackup PowerGallery

When upgrading services or solutions, it is always best practice to create a backup of your files before you proceed with the upgrade process. Using whichever method works best for you, create a duplicate of your current PowerGallery files and store those files in a safe place.

In the event that upgrade process fails, you will be able to revert to these files to return to a functioning PowerGallery.

arrow downDelete v1 files

The next step is to delete the PowerGallery 1 files that you no longer need.

  1. Using your preferred FTP application, delete all the directories in your PowerGallery directory except for the following:

    1. Connections (this directory maintains your database connection information)
    2. Images (this directory contains all the images used for your existing galleries)

  2. Once all other directories have been deleted, you are ready to upload all PowerGallery 2 files to your PowerGallery directory.

arrow downUploading files

You can now upload your PowerGallery 2 files to your PowerGallery directory.

  1. Using your preferred FTP application, upload all the PowerGallery 2 files that are provided within the rename_and_upload_this_directory folder.

arrow downRun Upgrade Script

PowerGallery 2 includes a built-in file for upgrading your PowerGallery installation. All you need to do is browse to that file within your browser and the upgrade process will run.

  1. In your preferred browser, navigate to your PowerGallery site and open the file located here:
  2. install_gallery/upgradev1_v2.php
  3. Once this upgrade has completed, you will be redirected to your PowerGallery login page.

arrow downActivate PowerGallery

After you login to your PowerGallery 2 site, you will be taken to the Setting page so that you can enter your PowerGallery serial number.

  1. Obtain your serial number from your WebAssist Download Center.
  2. Copy and paste the serial number into the first field of the serial number option.
  3. Click Save to finish updating your PowerGallery installation.

Hi, ha anyone had this problem and know a about a solution

Problem, galleries will not show on page.

I followed the update instructions, transferred the website to a new server, updated every page with the new Text link (WORKS) and the Gallery Link - which does not work. just appear for a second and disappear to leave a blank space.

I have done a test page with nothing of my programming on - nothing still same problem.

When I use the link in Gallery : http://www.alisonpickett.com/apgallery/galleries/ribbon_fullsize/index.php?gallery=4&theme=light , All the different variations of 'size and crop' show up in the ribbon.

Pls advise ... I have an other site I need to move to new server so ...

Thanks

Niels
