Let's go over some of the most common issues that people have when using the Adobe Extension Manager to install extension, and how to get around them, or fix them outright.

Unhide your Library Folder

MAC ONLY

In OS X 10.7, Apple hid the Library Directory from users to help keep inexperienced users from messing around with files they have no business messing around with. Fortunately, there is a way to unhide the folder so we can access the sweet, sweet Dreamweaver Extension files hidden within.

Launch Terminal.
Copy the following code:
```
chflags nohidden ~/Library/
```
Paste the code into Terminal.
Hit Enter and enter your Administrator password if prompted.

If you decide you want your Library directory hidden once more, this can be reversed by doing the following.

Launch Terminal.
Copy the following code:
```
chflags hidden ~/Library/
```
Paste the code into Terminal.
Hit Enter and enter your Administrator password if prompted.

Fixing Common Issues

If installing an extension is taking longer than you would expect, or if you are finding that Dreamweaver is not functioning as expected after installing, you may be able to fix this by deleting the WinFileCache.dat or MacFileCache.dat file.

Follow these instructions to delete this file.

For Windows Users

Close Dreamweaver.
Open a Windows Explorer window.
In the Address bar enter %appdata% and click Enter.
Open the Adobe directory.
Open the Dreamweaver folder for the version of Dreamweaver you are using.
Dreamweaver CS4 users only - open the en_US directory.
Open the Configuration directory.
Locate the WinFileCache.dat file.
There may be some other numbers appended to this filename.
Press Delete to delete this file.
Open Dreamweaver.

If the problem persists, you may need to uninstall your extensions, reinstall them, then delete the WinFileCache.dat file and open Dreamweaver.

For Mac Users

Close Dreamweaver.
Open your OS X Finder.
Navigate to the following directory:

Dreamweaver CS4, CS5, CS5.5, CS6
/users/[username]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver (version)/en_US/Configuration/

Dreamweaver CS3
/users/[username]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver 9/Configuration/
Locate the MacFileCache.dat file.
There may be some other numbers appended to this filename.
Press Delete to delete this file.
Open Dreamweaver.

If the problem persists, you may need to uninstall your extensions, reinstall them, then delete the MacFileCache.dat file and open Dreamweaver.

Common Alerts

During the installation process, there are three alerts that may appear:

The same version of a file exists
A newer copy of a file exists
An older version of a file exists

When any of these alerts display, you can choose Yes to All to proceed with the installation. This should not cause any problems.
